How receipt verification works
When someone shares a presence receipt with you, Attestly lets you confirm its authenticity in seconds.

When someone shares a presence receipt with you, Attestly lets you confirm its authenticity in seconds.
Verification is designed to answer one simple question: Is this receipt real and still valid?
What you need to verify a receipt
You only need one of the following:
- A receipt link, or
- A receipt ID.
You don't need an account.
How verification works
Open the receipt link, or enter the receipt ID into the "Verify receipt" field on the Attestly website. Attestly shows the verification result immediately.
You will see:
- Whether the receipt is valid, revoked, or invalid
- The organization that issued it
- The purpose of the receipt
- The time it was issued
- Whether it is still considered active
That's all that's required.
What verification means
Verification confirms that:
- The receipt was issued by a real organization using Attestly
- The receipt has not been altered
- The receipt has not been withdrawn or invalidated
It does not track anyone. It does not require login. It does not expose personal information beyond what appears on the receipt.
If the receipt is revoked or invalid
If a receipt was issued in error, or later withdrawn by the issuing organization, its status will show as "revoked."
If a receipt does not exist or cannot be confirmed, it will show as "invalid."
This makes it clear when a receipt should not be relied on.
Do I need an account to verify a receipt?
No. Verification is completely open and requires no account, login, or relationship with Attestly. Anyone with a receipt link or ID can verify it instantly.
Can a receipt be faked or forged?
No. Each receipt contains a signature that can only be created by the issuing organization through Attestly. If any detail is changed—even a single character—the signature becomes invalid and verification will fail.
Does verification track who checks a receipt?
No. Verification is anonymous and does not log or track who verifies receipts. It simply confirms whether the receipt is valid.
How long are receipts valid?
Receipts remain verifiable indefinitely unless explicitly revoked by the issuing organization. The verification system preserves the historical record even if the organization later closes their account.
